Terms of Service

1. Who we are

IlmGhar is a tutor marketplace operating in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore and Karachi, Pakistan. We connect students and families with verified home tutors and supervise the hiring process manually. We are a platform that introduces and facilitates — we do not employ tutors.

2. Accounts and eligibility

• You must be at least 18 years old to register as a tutor.
• Students under 18 may use the platform only through a parent or guardian who manages the account and is responsible for it.
• You agree to provide accurate, current information and to keep your login credentials confidential. You are responsible for activity on your account.

3. Tutor verification

Tutors agree to submit accurate CNIC and degree information. A tutor profile goes live only after our admin team approves it. We authenticate the documents tutors upload through our own manual review and AI-based document checks, and we may reject or remove any profile where information is inaccurate, incomplete, or unverifiable.

4. How hiring works

A student sends a hiring request to a tutor. A tutor has 48 hours to accept or decline before the request expires. You may agree to hire directly and arrange lessons yourselves, or hire through IlmGhar for managed payments, reviews, and dispute protection.

5. Payments and fees

• On a managed hire, students pay IlmGhar — not the tutor directly — and only for the lessons actually taken.
• IlmGhar retains a 15% platform fee on each tutor payout. Tutors receive the balance for confirmed lessons.
• In this version of the platform there is no automated payment gateway. All payments are collected and recorded manually by our admin team, with a reference number you can see in your payment history.
• If a managed contract is cancelled early, the student pays only for lessons taken and our admin settles the balance pro-rata.

6. Lessons and disputes

After a lesson, the tutor marks it as completed. The student may confirm or dispute it within 48 hours; if no action is taken, the lesson auto-completes. Disputes are reviewed by our admin team and resolved based on the evidence and history of the account.

7. Refunds

If a dispute is resolved in the student's favour, the disputed amount is refunded or credited toward future lessons at our discretion. Because students pay only for lessons taken, there is no upfront lump sum to refund.

8. Off-platform transactions

For managed hires, you agree not to bypass IlmGhar by arranging payment off-platform. Doing so removes your payment protection, review eligibility, and dispute coverage, and may result in account suspension.

9. Acceptable use

You agree not to use IlmGhar for any unlawful purpose, to harass or abuse other users, to impersonate anyone, to share false credentials, or to post inappropriate or misleading content. Reviews must reflect genuine experiences.

10. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts for violations of these terms, fraudulent activity, or abusive behaviour. You may close your account at any time by contacting us.

11. Liability

IlmGhar verifies credentials and supervises hiring, but we are an introductory platform and are not a party to the teaching relationship. We are not liable for the quality of teaching, the conduct of users outside the platform, or any loss arising from arrangements made off-platform. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under Pakistani law.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Pakistan, and the courts of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore and Karachi have jurisdiction over any dispute relating to them.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will update the date at the top of this page, and continued use of the platform after changes means you accept the revised terms.
